Green Knife

Green Knife was inspired by my own love of cooking, especially cooking together with friends. I decided to tackle the problem of local University of Georgia students who have a hard time creating their own meals at home, whether it be because of money, time, or lack of skills in the kitchen.

Over the course of 3+ months, the information, recipes, and photographs featured in this publication were carefully curated, researched, and designed in order to provide students with a resource of easy, cheap, nutritious, and tasty meals. The original intent for this work was to reach UGA’s core student body, but the utility of it stretches beyond university students and really applies to anyone who has a hard time creating their own meals, or even someone who just needs more variety in what they cook.

Using the format of a desk calendar allows students to actually use this item in their day-to-day lives, not just for the recipes. I encourage users to try scheduling nights bi-weekly or once a month where they can get together with friends and use these recipes to make a meal. Not only does this lessen the cost per person, it encourages social interaction, something university students sometimes have a hard time fitting into their schedule.
